Just a short post today in celebration of dads (and granddads) for Father’s Day. Today would have been my dad’s 85th birthday, so for those who haven’t already read it, here’s an essay I wrote about him that was published in this week’s Globe & Mail series honouring fathers.

And, even though it’s not Mother’s Day, here’s an essay my sister wrote that was published in the Globe & Mail after mom passed away.

Nick has been fortunate to have had two wonderful grandfathers who shared, and helped fuel, some of his childhood interests.

And, of course, Nick has an amazing dad who has given him the most valuable gift a dad can give, the gift of time. When Nick was 8 months old, Ray became a stay-at-home dad, and he’s always made fatherhood a priority. He led by example and fostered in Nick a love of the outdoors, a commitment to healthy living, kindness to others, and the drive to always keep growing as a person.

Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads out there!
Awwww! Loves this blog. A very nice tribute to Nick’s dad and granddads. I can attest that dad was a great Poppa for all of our kids and I know that Nick developed his love of art and painting through Alan. But I can also attest to Ray being a fantastic father, who always puts his family first and who would move the world for Nick if he could, while still ensuring Nick is self-reliant and self-disciplined. He loves him more than anything else but never spoils him. (We all know that’s my job).
Happy Father’s Day, Ray!
Just lovely….I miss him (and your mom), too! Xo
