Ray and I volunteered at the 5K Foam Fest Fun Run last weekend in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We both accidentally got t-shirts that said “My Wish Has Come True” on the back. They’re meant for the children who’ve had wishes granted, but a couple had inadvertently gotten mixed in with the regular volunteer t-shirts. It seemed appropriate that Ray and I were the two volunteers who ended up with them.

After our volunteer shift, we had the opportunity to take part in the ‘fun run’ with mud pits to crawl through, walls to climb over, and lots of foam-filled obstacles. I loved the water slides and the ‘lily pads’ (below centre), but the mud pits were…kinda gross. Crawling through the mud on my belly, it occurred to me that about 4,500 sweaty people had crawled through this mud before me. It didn’t smell so very good. Ray enjoyed the mud obstacles, but wasn’t a foam fan. We’d both put the experience in the “fun time, glad we did it, not likely to do it again” category.
Nick unfortunately had to miss the fun as he was spending a few days at a cottage with a group of friends, but he managed to enjoy himself even without the mud and foam.

Ray and I had some fun with friends ourselves this week – a hike and BBQ lunch with friends in Wakefield; a BBQ ribs/chicken/portobello dinner with ‘the gang’, and a belated-retirement BBQ with a group of friends from work.
Still appreciating your poetic posts – and shirts were totally meant for you both. Love pics of kids “now adults” weekend away.
